Fifth and final day of heats The last two heats (2 out of 2) took place and concluded the European Hobie Cat Tiger Championship and the European Hobie Cat FX-One Cup. Brief chronicle: After dominating most of the championship the French relinquish their first position to Gosche and Gosche, GER 168, who win the European title.Great performance also by the new entries Bissaro/Cesari who finished in 5th position, followed by other two Italian teams, Chinotti/Paglierini (6th position) and Pecorini/Rogge (7th position)… congratulations to all! Another German, Knopp Joern (GER 494), raised the FX-One Cup trophy, followed by the Swiss Moeschter and the other German Carsten. Almost perfect weather conditions: wind, sun and medium waves. The award ceremony, held at the PuntAla Camping Resort at 17:30, was another occasion to enjoy final moments and good times (regatta participants and local authorities were showered in champagne). Heartfelt thanks to the Regatta Committee for the reliability and precision in getting all heats to start on time, to the International Jury and, for all logistical support on land, to the PuntAla Camping Resort and sponsors (Opel – F.lli Vivarelli, Grosseto dealer, the Follonica branch of the bank Cassa di Risparmio di Lucca, Pisa, Livorno – Gruppo Banco Popolare). The Italian (IHCA) and European (EHCA) class associations, who actively supported the Cala Civette Sailing Club in organizing this event, also said their farewells reminding all that the next European Championship will be held in Denmark in August 2008. To these farewells, we would like to add our own and that of the chairman of the Cala Civette Sailing Club, Thomas Daddi. We’ll be back next year with the European Contender and other international regattas. We wish you good winds, always!
